Trumped…

I can’t believe I’m actually posting a blog entry about this fool, but I can’t resist!  He has truly made the American public look like fools to the rest of the world!  And while there are natural and nuclear disasters, rebellions, and humanitarian crises taking place in our nation and all over the globe, what does he choose to focus on?  A birth certificate that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things…  Hey Trump!  I’m not American either!  I was just BORN HERE!

CNN got some interesting (and comical) feedback from others who feel the same!  Check it out here <<<

I’ll leave you with the only comment that really matters during this sad, sad time in politics:  “He wants to see Obama’s birth certificate? I wanna see HIS hairline.”  -Robin Williams

Ha!

I’m not scared of earthquakes, tsunamis, or tornados!

So, has anyone else noticed that our dear Mother Nature is releasing some serious tension lately?  I’m trying to recall the last time storms and floods ravaged our nation as tirelessly as it has for the past few weeks.  I’m sure we’re overdue for some geological reshaping of terrain, but I mean WOW!  With the fires in Texas, the tornados ripping across the east, and the threat of seismic activity to the west, I’m just wondering where I will be when I experience one of nature’s displays.  And I know it could be far worse; Japan got it good, and in addition to a manmade disaster as well:-( So far all I’ve gotten is rain (and trust me, I’m not complaining), but unfortunately there are (and will continue to be) some who must perish in order to keep the balance of life for the rest of us, and many more who will be displaced.  Will it get better soon?  Only Father Time will tell…

To everyone out there who may be enduring meteorological or geological changes and catastrophes , I sincerely hope that things improve soon, and that your resilience shines through like the sun!

Sometimes we want what we already have, and other times what we don’t…

Lisa Price of Carol’s Daughter talks about hair, identity, and the useless act of coveting one’s hair sister…

Watch this short video that features Solange, Cassie, and Selita, the newest faces of Carol’s Daughter! They may just make me want to give the beauty line one more chance;-)

Viewer discretion advised: let’s talk about sex!

I found an interesting article today entitled, “10 Charts About Sex”.  It draws some pretty intriguing conclusions about various sex trends based on this particular online dating site, but could it also paint a clear picture about our attitudes toward sex in general?  Where do you fit in?  Check it out here to find out!

Smart Living!

Andrew Tarantola — Gizmodo and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI) have teamed up to bring you something amazing – the 2011 Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit, opening this Friday, April 22, 2011! As the technology partner for the exhibit, we’ve taken the technologies that change the way we live, work, love, play, think and feel and incorporated them in this year’s Smart Home to not only bring Gizmodo to the exhibit but also designate the home as smart living. The Smart Home, a fully-functioning, eco-friendly home built by MSI in 2008, also will feature an interior designed with re-purposed materials; coalescing the past, present and future to redefine what makes a house, a Home.  Read More

I’m back!

Greetings everyone!

I took a short hiatus this past week, and while it is not my style to leave people hangin’, it felt really good to get a few things done and reflect on my new job as a blogger!  So, this post is my personal blog apology for not being on top of things in the “blogoshpere”, as well as a “thank you” to those who have been reading my blog!  I am new to keeping an online journal, and I am inspired by those who do it so well, with consistency and fresh perspective!  Thank you to those who comment, share, like, and subscribe to my blog,  and most of all, to those who take the time to read it!

My sincerest gratitude,

Product Timeline: From Junky to Just

Over the course of the last 2 years, I have grasped that less is better. What am I talking about you ask? I’m talking about the products we use in our hair. If you are chemical free, natural, curly-topped, or a hair health connoisseur, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Taking care of your hair can be an expensive losing game! But it doesn’t have to be if you are willing to develop 3 (three) things. All you need is 1.) self-control (first and foremost), 2.) an understanding of ingredients (when you know which ones are good and which ones are bad, then you are in great condition), and 3.) lots and lots of patience (trial and error is a wonderful thing)!

What I have come to understand is that hair may thoroughly enjoy a product for a certain amount of time, and then one day, no longer be receptive of it.  Sometimes this is because it was never really good for your hair in the first place, perhaps because your hair texture and the product don’t mesh, or because the ingredients in the product are no good (which is why I’m a label reader- look for a later post about good/bad ingredients soon!).  What I have noticed is that my hair tends to behave better with less, or more natural products, which you will better understand based on the following information.

Below is a list of products that I have/had experience with, in order from when I used them (starting in 2009).  I have placed an asterisk next to products/items that I had a positive experience with but wasn’t fully convinced (usually when my hair no longer appreciated them, which is why I moved on to other products).  I put 2 (two) asterisks next to the items I recommend/and or still use today.  The items at the bottom of the list signify my most recent products.  This list allows you to see the search for the right product, the patterns that exist, and the overall evolution of my hair regime.  My conclusion?  Nature is JUST enough!

Growing Up Green, Part 3 of 3: robo360

So as you may have already noticed, I am steadfast supporter of Dimitri Snowden, a great friend and mentor.  Dimitri is an amazing entrepreneur, and a gem in the field of public education.  He is a rare find indeed, with the ability to not only build a school from the ground up, but to service it technologically, build curricula and teach them to the students!  One thing is for certain, he also has a thing or two to teach the adults about a well-rounded education!  The next few posts that I create in the category of education will be dedicated to him, and all he has done for the Paramount School of Excellence.  These entries will capture the true essence of Green and Sustainable education through photographs!  Keep in mind when you are viewing the photos, that these are all ideas that he saw in his mind and was able to bring to life.  The students of PSoE, who live in the inner-city of Indianapolis are able to experience, learn, and grow as responsible citizens, and are equipped to help sustain future communities and generations to come!
